Bank Holidays 2024: The new financial year is going to start from April 1, 2024. Before this, the Reserve Bank of India has released the calendar regarding the bank holidays to be held in the month of April. Holidays related to festivals and other occasions occurring in different states have also been included in the bank holiday list. Besides, the weekly holidays of Saturday and Sunday in the month of April have also been included in it. Banks will remain closed for a total of 14 days in the month of April.

According to the holiday list released by RBI on its official website, the bank holidays which are closed for 14 days in the month of April include 6 days of Saturday and Sunday when there will be a holiday of banks in the entire country. Due to 7th April being Sunday, banks will remain closed across the country. At the same time, due to second Saturday on 13th April, Sunday on 14th April, Sunday on 21st April, fourth Saturday on 27th April and Sunday on 28th April 2024, banks across the country will remain closed.

Bank’s online services will remain operational

Apart from this, there are holidays on different days in many states. Banks will remain closed in the respective states on that day. Banks will not open in many states even on the festival of Eid and Ram Navami. But the good thing is that you will continue to get full benefits of online services related to the bank. For example, online, UPI, mobile banking and ATM services will continue to work for the convenience of the common people without any hindrance and hassle. RBI’s holiday calendar will not have any impact on these banking services.

  • Banks will remain closed across the country on the first day of the beginning of the financial year i.e. 1st April (Monday). There will be a bank holiday on April 5 on the occasion of Jamaat-ul-Vida in Telangana state as well as Jammu-Kashmir and Srinagar.
  • After this, there will be a holiday in many states on 9th April on the occasion of Gudi Padwa / Ugadi Festival / Telugu New Year and first Navratri. Banks will remain closed on this day especially in Belapur, Nagpur, Mumbai of Maharashtra, Bengaluru of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu (in Chennai), Manipur (in Imphal), Hyderabad, Goa (Panaji), Jammu and Srinagar.
  • Banks will also remain closed in Kerala and Kochi in South India on the occasion of Ramzan-Eid on 10th April.
  • On the occasion of Eid or Eid ul Fitr, banks across the country except Chandigarh, Gangtok and Kochi will remain closed on April 11.
  • Banks of Guwahati will remain closed on April 15 on the occasion of Bohag Bihu, the famous festival of Assam. At the same time, banks of Shimla city will remain closed on the occasion of Himachal Day.
  • On the occasion of Ram Navami, banks will not open in the cities of Chandigarh, Dehradun, Gangtok, Hyderabad, Belapur, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Patna, Ranchi, Shimla, Mumbai, Jaipur, Kanpur, Lucknow and Nagpur on April 17.
  • Banks will not open in Agartala, the capital of north-eastern Tripura state, on April 20 in view of Garia Puja. There will be a holiday in the banks of the city on this day.
